A legendary creature appearing in Western mythology, legends, and tales. Looking at its developed legs, it seems to be inspired by the dragon, griffin, or hippogriff.
This is a metal necklace made of alloy.
The back is stamped out, so it is not very heavy.
The etymology comes from the ancient Greek word 'gryps' (γρυψ), meaning 'curved beak'. It has appeared in many stories since ancient times (such as Herodotus's 'Histories'), and its history as a legendary creature is long.
In Persian mythology, it appears under the name Shirdal, meaning 'eagle-lion', and can be seen on seals from cylinder seals made in Susa around the early 3rd millennium BC. Since then, it has been a motif in many arts, including ancient Persian art, ancient Greek art, and later medieval heraldry.
It is a spiritual beast that has been passed down not only in Western Europe, such as Britain, but also in areas closer to the Middle East.
It can be used as a charm or a good luck charm.
You might also consider hanging it somewhere.
This is an imported item. It is a rare item not seen in Japan.
It is perfect for presents and gifts, or how about a treat for yourself?
