The glossy black lacquer finish is accented with gold peony decorations and shell inlays, creating a Wabi-Sabi aesthetic with a nostalgic feel. The interior is lined with red velvet, and the retro feel when opened is very cute and has a warm Showa-era charm.

When you open the lid, a nostalgic music box melody plays, evoking a sense of gentle melancholy. It has a unique atmosphere that only old items possess, and is recommended for those who love Showa retro and vintage aesthetics.
The music will not play if the spring is not wound.

It's perfect not only for storing accessories and small items, but also as a Japanese modern interior accent or decorative piece. It comes with a key and is solidly built, as expected of an item from that era.

??
While it may not be true Maki-e, it is designed in a lacquerware style befitting a high-quality art craft from the Showa period. Jewelry boxes with this kind of Showa retro atmosphere are becoming increasingly rare today.

?? As this is a pre-owned item that has been stored over time, there are minor scratches, scuffs, slight wobbling at the base, and a noticeable chip in one part of the interior. The mirror also shows age-related cloudiness and dirt. It is not in perfect condition, but we hope to pass it on to someone who can appreciate its unique charm as an old item.
We would be grateful if you consider it as an antique or collectible.

The gold and shell parts subtly shimmer depending on the light, creating a beautiful atmosphere.
