This is a handheld orin (temple bell).
It is a very luxurious-looking Inkin (a type of handbell used in Buddhist ceremonies) with a double-layered futon, a red chirimen (crepe fabric) cover for the hand, and a lacquered-wood-like finish.
It can be used by temples as well as for grave visits by laypeople.
