Excerpt from the website:
The Storm Glass (Weather Predictor) was used in the early 19th century in Europe as a weather forecasting tool during voyages.
It is said that the appearance of crystals within the liquid changes depending on the weather and temperature, allowing you to enjoy the unique changes in the crystals.
A storm glass is made by dissolving several chemicals in alcohol and sealing it in a glass container.
Due to Admiral Robert FitzRoy of the British Navy's detailed research on this device, it is also known as FitzRoy's Weather Predictor.
The relationship between weather conditions and crystallization within the liquid has not been scientifically explained, so it cannot be used to accurately predict the weather.
However, the liquid and crystals will change uniquely in response to changes in the surrounding weather environment, so please enjoy it as a decorative interior item.
■About Storm Glass Crystals
* While there are individual differences between products, you can enjoy crystallization within a room temperature range of approximately 5°C to 25°C. At other room temperatures, crystallization will not occur, and the liquid will remain clear. Crystallization will occur when the temperature is within the appropriate range.
* If you purchase the product during a hot season and do not see any crystals, please do not worry. Place the storm glass in a flat, shaded location and wait for the temperature and weather to become suitable for it.
* If the liquid is shaken and mixed, it will become difficult for crystals to form. Please use the product without shaking it.
* It is said that it takes about a week for the storm glass to acclimate to its surroundings after unpacking.
