■The seat of this TOKYO CHAISE LONGUE is composed of 12 curved wooden strips. The connecting elements that join the strips to the lower bar are satin brass studs. The base is solid wood (teak or bamboo).

■A Masterpiece Reimagined from the LC4 with Different Materials
The TOKYO CHAISE LONGUE is a bamboo chaise longue originally designed by Charlotte Perriand as a one-off piece in 1940.
While the base design is based on Le Corbusier's LC4, the LC4 itself was a collaborative creation by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand. Therefore, this can be seen as Perriand presenting her own design with altered materials.

■ As the name suggests, this TOKYO CHAISE LONGUE has deep ties to Japan.
Charlotte Perriand first visited Japan in 1940. Following her tour across Japan, she was required to present her findings at an exhibition in the spring of 1941. However, Japan was experiencing severe material shortages at the time, forcing the use of bamboo as a substitute for metal.
This led to the creation of the bamboo chaise longue. Perhaps, conversely, it was this very material shortage that resulted in such a beautiful piece.

■ Currently, this TOKYO CHAISE LONGUE is being reissued by Cassina.
Perriand's masterpiece has been revived before our eyes after more than 70 years.

*As the entire frame is made of natural materials, there are numerous unevennesses, minor scratches, and scuffs in various places that do not affect usability. These are inherent to the material and do not pose any functional issues.
