● Ginkaku-ji (Silver Pavilion)
Ginkaku-ji (official name: Jisho-ji) is a Rinzai Zen temple located in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City. It originated as a mountain villa built in 1482 by Ashikaga Yoshimasa, the 8th shogun of the Muromachi Shogunate.
Known by the nickname Ginkaku in contrast to Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion), it is a symbol of the simple and refined Higashiyama culture.
