Memorial tablets are Buddhist implements used to enshrine and honor the spirits of individuals. They are considered important for ancestor veneration.
The Buddhist name (kaimyo) is inscribed on the front of the memorial tablet.
Even without a Buddhist name, it is possible to create a suitable memorial tablet using the deceased's secular name.

If you wish to have your Buddhist name or other inscriptions hand-written, we will do so with care, free of charge, rather than using a machine. Please refer to the last image for examples.
After your purchase, please provide the Buddhist name and posthumous title (e.g., Koji for men, Daishi for women), the date of death, the secular name (full name), and the age at death, and we will inscribe them free of charge. Of course, you are also welcome to purchase the memorial tablet alone.

We will also hand-write the date of death, secular name (full name), and age at death free of charge.

In the Kanto region, the Buddhist name and date of death are inscribed on the front of the memorial tablet, and the secular name and age at death are inscribed on the back.

In the Tokai and western Japan regions, only the Buddhist name is inscribed on the front, and the secular name and age at death are inscribed on the back.

There are regional differences. If you already have memorial tablets for your ancestors, we can create yours to match their layout.
