Memorial tablets are Buddhist implements used to enshrine and honor the spirits of the deceased. They are considered important for ancestor veneration.
The Buddhist name (kaimyo) is inscribed on the front of the memorial tablet.
Even without a Buddhist name, a memorial tablet can be made with the deceased's secular name, adding 之霊位 (noirei) after the secular name. It is believed that adding 之霊位 (noirei) after the secular name carries the same meaning as receiving a Buddhist name.

If you wish for the Buddhist name and other details to be handwritten, we will do so free of charge. Please refer to the last image for examples.
After your purchase, please provide the Buddhist name and posthumous title (e.g., Koji for men, Daishi for women), the date of death, the secular name (full name), and the age at death, and we will handwrite them for you free of charge. Of course, you are also welcome to purchase the memorial tablet alone.

The date of death, secular name (full name), and age at death will also be handwritten free of charge.

In the Kanto region, the Buddhist name and date of death are inscribed on the front of the memorial tablet, and the secular name and age at death are inscribed on the back.

In the Tokai and western Japan regions, only the Buddhist name is inscribed on the front of the memorial tablet, and the secular name and age at death are inscribed on the back.

There are regional differences. If you already have an ancestral memorial tablet, the layout will be made to match it.
