Rattan is a natural material called tou in Japanese. You may often see furniture described as rattan wicker, where wicker refers to the weaving technique, meaning furniture woven from rattan material. Rattan is refreshing, highly breathable, and comfortable to use, making it perfect for Japan's hot and humid summers.

Rattan is characterized by its excellent breathability, preventing heat buildup. It absorbs damp humidity, a charm of natural materials even when fashioned into furniture. Another feature is the warmth of being hand-woven one by one.

You might wonder if it's unusable in winter, but that's not the case. Rattan releases moisture in dry winter air. Since rattan breathes, placing rattan furniture can even help prevent dryness in winter. However, please note that it's not suitable for excessively humid environments! Wood can rot, so please use it within normal climatic conditions.

Now that you understand the characteristics of rattan, let's look at the RA-802 Rattan Floor Chair. Its defining feature is the round design, offering a comforting sense of being enveloped. The main body is kept low, so it doesn't make your room feel cramped. It's best suited for relaxed seating rather than sitting upright for tasks.

Rattan furniture is often used in Asian resorts, and the RA-802 Rattan Floor Chair exudes elegance. Since it's designed for sitting on the floor, it's not ideal for working, but it's perfect for enjoying your time, perhaps with a drink or watching TV. Weighing only about 4.5kg (equivalent to about 2.5 large plastic bottles), its lightness is another appeal of rattan furniture, making it easy to move. This rattan floor chair is recommended for those who prefer a floor-sitting lifestyle, as well as for establishments like hotels, inns, and Japanese restaurants.
