This is a replacement rubber belt for DVD, Blu-ray, CD drives, and Xboxes when the tray opening/closing rubber belt slips and the lid can no longer be opened or closed.
The second photo shows the rubber belt being exhibited and the belt that was attached to a device where the tray could no longer be opened or closed due to slippage, placed side-by-side for comparison.
Most devices have a small hole under the tray, and inserting a straightened wire or paperclip into it will open the tray.
The rubber belt can be replaced through the gap or by disassembly.
(I replaced the belt through the gap after opening the tray without disassembling the device, using tweezers and a straightened wire or paperclip with a bent tip.)
