This was found in the main family's storehouse
and I believe it is a very old item. Perhaps from the Showa era?
The part with the leather stretched over it has no tears.
The ball at the end of the string appears to be plastic.
The metal studs around the edge are rusty, but
when shaken to make a sound, it's surprisingly good!
It has a clear, high-pitched tone that might be
too intense for babies and make them cry!?

An unsolicited opinion from someone with musical experience.
I would like percussionists to use this.
This instrument can be shaken left and right for rapid strikes.
While not as fast as a roll, I believe it can be used
with some creativity.
I hope you'll try using it while the leather holds up!
It has a wonderfully resonant, clear, and good sound.

As I'm afraid of it breaking, I've tried not to handle it too much,
cleaning it with a soft brush and cloth.
It will be carefully wrapped in cushioning material before shipping.

Thank you very much for viewing this item among so many others.
