Description
Thank you for viewing.

This is a bamboo shakuhachi, a 1 shaku 8 sun (D key) instrument.

Length: 54.5 cm
Weight: 350 grams
Uta-guchi (mouthpiece): Gold-bound
Inscription: Seika Yonin
Both low and high notes sound very good.

⚫︎ This instrument originally belonged to a shakuhachi enthusiast from the Showa era. I believe it is a very fine piece. It is a product of Kitahara Seikado in Kyoto.
⚫︎ While repairs for cracks were made during the Showa era, they have been completely restored, and the current condition is good. (See photos 6 and 7)
⚫︎ During the crack repair, the silver ring on the upper joint stopped at a slightly rotated position, but this does not affect playability in any way.
⚫︎ In the Reiwa era, the mouthpiece was remade at the oldest shakuhachi workshop, based on the latest modern knowledge. This allows for easy and powerful sound production suitable for modern instruments, while retaining the qualities of a Showa-era instrument as the finger holes and inner diameter have not been altered. (See photos 1-5)
⚫︎ The mouthpiece is in good condition with no chips or damage.
⚫︎ The lacquer is in good condition, and there is no looseness in the joint.

The upper and lower tubes will be detached and carefully packaged for delivery.
