Electric Yugen 21 Silent Tsugaru Shamisen (Shamisen Katou)

This is an electric Tsugaru-jamisen, the YumeGen 21 Silent (used), manufactured by Shamisen Kato.

The instrument has been re-skinned with synthetic leather and maintained by Shamisen Kato. Since it was purchased from Shamisen Kato, they will also handle any future maintenance.

As a Tsugaru-jamisen performer, I am selling this instrument as part of a decluttering effort, as I have too many shamisen.

Good quality used electric shamisen with a silent function are rare, so this is a great opportunity for those who have been looking for one!

■Product Description■
This is a karin (rosewood) futozao (thick neck), but it has a rosewood-style finish, giving it a good appearance. The synthetic leather skin will not tear. It is not affected by humidity, making it easy to store and manage. This shamisen is perfect for those who want to practice vigorously indoors, such as in an apartment, at night using the silent mode.

Karin wood enzao (extended neck). (Rosewood-style finish)
Ebony pegs.
Includes the shamisen body, koma (bridge), a used duralumin hard case (the handle screws are missing and secured with wire), AC adapter, a stick to press the silent mode on/off switch, a shield for connecting to an amplifier (only items shown in the photos), and the instruction manual.

When silent mode is on, the sound is muted, and when silent mode is off, it produces the sound of a regular Tsugaru-jamisen. The attack sound of the bachi (plectrum) is also reduced, making it much quieter than with a shinobi-koma (mute bridge). Furthermore, even in silent mode, you can connect headphones and hear the electric shamisen sound at a high volume.

You can also connect it to a guitar amplifier with a shield, allowing you to use it for stage performances as an electric shamisen.

This type of YumeGen 21 is no longer sold by Shamisen Kato, so it is difficult to obtain now.

This electric shamisen with a convenient silent mode is a great opportunity, so please consider purchasing it.
