This reel was stored in my parents' closet for a long time. It is in good condition, and while the rotation isn't as smooth as modern reels, it has a light ratchet sound and feel without any gritty or rough sensations. The spool's drag can also be adjusted without issue. There is some age-related wear, but it's relatively clean. The CARBON SPOOL lettering, the vintage Daiwa font, the emblem on the body, the angular design, and the wooden knob all contribute to its retro charm.
The SS (Super Sport) was Daiwa's flagship model 40 years ago, and the 700 size is small and lightweight. Paired with an old rod and reel, it can bring back the fishing experience of the 1980s, perfect for black sea bream fishing, lures, and more.
