Rare shamisen with frets
★Please check out our sound check video titled Shamisen with Frets on the video site Vimeo.
It features wooden frets. It is tuned to the equal temperament scale, but there is one position that is half a semitone further divided.
The frets are also slightly raised, allowing you to press down and slightly adjust the microtonal intervals.
It is also equipped with a Tōsawari (a buzzing mechanism).
The front is made of animal skin (please check the images carefully as there are some reinforced patches), and the back is made of Kissohino cypress.
The strings are standard shamisen strings.
Fingerpicking or using a pick is more suitable than using a bachi (plectrum).
All frets produce sound without issue, but please understand that due to the wooden frets, environmental factors such as temperature and humidity may have a slight impact.
*To prevent damage, it will be shipped in a hard case with the outer skin removed. It is not suitable for outdoor use, but it can be used for storage as is.
