This is a rare hand-beaten drum purchased in Papua New Guinea several decades ago.
It is a valuable ethnic musical instrument that is almost impossible to obtain today.

Its characteristic feature is the unique elongated hourglass shape of Papua New Guinea.
One side has a lizard skin head, and the bottom is hollow. It is lighter than it looks and has an excellent resonance.
