The IMAKATSU Shad Series is also known as the Kattobi Flat Side Shad.
It is a new type of shad plug that hybridizes the strengths of both flat-side cranks, which are said to be effective in highly pressured lakes, during low water temperatures, and after the passage of cold fronts, and suspend shads.
The biggest weakness of flat-side cranks and suspend shads is their poor castability due to their flat bodies. This is a fatal flaw for hard baits, which are inherently most effective in windy conditions.
Despite being a shad type, the IMAKATSU Shad Series achieves casting distances and accuracy comparable to fat crankbaits, flying straight like an arrowhead.
Furthermore, it features a fixed-weight system that eliminates the unpleasant sound of the shifting weight during jerking, which is ideal for natural vibrations and finesse jerking and twitching.
The sharp darting action, which minimizes the sound of line cutting through water, will allow you to experience how exquisitely balanced the aerodynamics and hydrodynamics of the IMAKATSU Shad are.
The IS-100 has a diving depth of up to 1-1.5m. It is equipped with IMAKATSU's unique wind bill, which converts diving power into lateral movement, and is a fish-attracting type that generates soft yet strong vibrations.
Despite its relatively long lip, it does not dive deep and its obstacle avoidance performance far exceeds that of short-bill lures. This allows you to fish in areas with rocky bottoms, which are difficult to approach with conventional shads, just like you would with shallow cranks.
It is also suitable for fishing in weed areas. The technique is to occasionally snag the lure on weeds, pause, and then retrieve it. Bass will bite in reaction the moment the lure is freed from the weeds.
In fields with smaller average fish sizes or high pressure, where crankbaits result in short bites, the sharp body of a shad allows for better hook-ups without hiding the hook points.
