Hichiriki (Shō) Main Pipe Gagaku Rattan Wrapped Japanese Instrument Kodenraku Ryūteki Shō With Flute Bag & Rosette
293.33 $
Description
This is a genuine bamboo *hichiriki* used for Gagaku (ancient Japanese court music).
It is a bit slender, I believe.
It comes with one reed (*rozetsu*) that is easy to play, even for beginners.
I purchased it because I liked its appearance, but I am reluctantly parting with it to fund the purchase of another genuine bamboo *hichiriki* that I encountered.
It is very easy to play and produces a rich, deep sound.
Please understand that the pitch and tone quality of a *hichiriki* can vary depending on the player, playing technique, reed, and binder (*seme*).
How about this for those who are learning the *hichiriki* for the first time, or those who wish to upgrade from a plastic *hichiriki* to a genuine bamboo one?
Please feel free to comment if you would like additional images or have any questions.
