◇About the Artisan◇
We sell handmade shinobue flutes made by a father and daughter. The father has been a shinobue instructor in Shimane Prefecture for approximately 25 years and is also a flute artisan. We craft our shinobue and kagurabue flutes from female bamboo harvested from the Shizuma River, dried for over 3 years.

◇Description◇
A 6-hole tuning flute is two semitones lower than an 8-hole tuning flute, placing it in a vocal range closer to the human voice. If a song starts with a '#' symbol, you can smoothly play it in the key of C major by transposing, without needing to use many sharps.

◇Tuning◇
The flute is tuned to Western scale 440Hz, with the upper register (kōon) matched to a tuner, making it suitable for ensemble playing and performing with other instruments.
It is tuned to produce notes in the lower register (ro-on), upper register (kōon), and up to the great upper register (daikōon) by adjusting breath strength.
As these are natural bamboo flutes, each one has its own unique characteristics. Those accustomed to flutes from other artisans may take some time to master producing the daikōon 3 and 4 notes on our flutes.

○ Material: Shinobue bamboo (dried for over 3 years, then heat-treated)
○ Interior: Coated with synthetic azuki bean colored lacquer
○ Exterior: Coated with synthetic black lacquer
○ Binding thread: Light brown

A 20g weight is inserted inside the head of the tube to adjust stability.
The reflector in the embouchure is made with wood putty to prevent melting in summer heat.
