72 Recommended for Beginners, Roasted Bamboo, Clear Lacquer Finish, Classical Style 7 Holes, 7 Notes, Negishi Shinobue Studio
This is made to the same specifications as the Shishida and Maruyama shinobue flutes.
The finger holes are small, producing a sharp sound.
Most beginners can play low notes, but struggle to produce high notes or the very high pee sound. Many are concerned about whether their current flute can produce these notes properly.
This flute was made based on feedback from instructors across various regions (easy to produce high notes, clear upper register, and affordable).
For beginners, it is recommended to first learn to produce high and upper register notes before buying an expensive flute. Then, visit a shop and try playing different flutes to find one that suits you. (Some flutes look good but cannot produce clear upper register notes.) Also, it is said that progress is faster if you start lessons after you can produce some notes.
To prioritize ease of playing, resonance, and affordability, there may be minor scratches, natural variations in shape, natural patterns, and natural curves.
An image with a 10mm ball is provided for reference regarding hole size.
Thickness: Approximately 18mm at the mouthpiece.
Length: Approximately 42cm.
Mouthpiece opening: Approximately 13.5mm.
Thickness: Slightly thin.
(Thicker flutes have better low-frequency resonance, while thinner flutes have better upper register resonance.)
Wall thickness: 2.2 on a 5-point scale.
(Thicker walls improve upper register resonance and volume, while thinner walls make it easier to play.)
Pitch: Approximately 7 to 7.5, slightly lower in winter.
Range: Clear notes from Tsutone (Ro-on) to Daikou-on 5.
What is Yakichiku (Roasted Bamboo)?
This is the material that produces the best resonance among shinobue bamboo. When bamboo is thoroughly roasted internally, it becomes harder and resonates better. However, it is difficult to process due to the scarcity of suitable materials.
When made naturally, the resonance is further enhanced. Bamboo grows by competing for light. Therefore, bamboo that wins the competition for light is best suited for flutes. (We have researched the physics of natural principles for many years and can identify suitable bamboo.)
What is Tō-nuri finish (Translucent Coating)?
Since no pigments are used in the paint, it makes it easier to produce sound. Furthermore, by carving grooves inside and allowing the paint to soak in, it further improves sound production and resonance.
Please note:
High notes and upper register notes are produced very clearly. When blowing strongly, please ensure there is no one around. Please be especially careful with small children, the elderly, people with disabilities, and those who are unwell.
