This is a replica sword modeled after the Japanese sword Kashu Kiyomitsu, said to have been favored by Okita Soji of the Shinsengumi.

Features: A striking design with a vermilion-lacquered scabbard (saya) and a black tsukamaki (handle wrapping) with a red underlayer.
Uses: For display, cosplay photoshoots, and stage performances.
There are minor scratches on the scabbard, including the one shown in the 7th photo.
It has a substantial weight and produces an indescribable whoosh sound when swung.
