Based on the musical film Singin' in the Rain, produced by MGM in 1952 and a huge hit starring Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor, and Debbie Reynolds, this musical was staged in London in 1983 and on Broadway in 1985. In the Takarazuka Revue, it was performed in 2003 at the Nissei Theatre starring Kei Aran and in 2008 at the Umeda Arts Theater starring Yuga Yamato. Both productions were highly acclaimed for their new scenes with a modern interpretation of the Broadway version and the spectacular stage incorporating Takarazuka's signature flair. Set in 1920s Hollywood during the transition from silent films to talkies, this bright and cheerful musical comedy returns to the Takarazuka Revue stage for the first time in 10 years.
