The company's roots trace back to Omi merchants who continued for generations in Omihachiman, Shiga Prefecture. The second son of a textile wholesaler who opened for business in Senba, Osaka, Yoshihisa Ueda, established the first specialty towel store in the Imperial Hotel Arcade in Tokyo, dealing in wholesale and retail of imported towels, primarily from Europe.
March 1972: Opened as a directly managed retail store within the Imperial Hotel.
August 1978: Established the Sanrose Hakata retail store within the Hotel New Otani Hakata.
March 1979: Opened a store within Chiba Sogo.
March 1993: Established a new store at Hilton Plaza Osaka.
March 1997: Established a new store at Motomachi Yokohama.
February 1999: Expanded and relocated the Motomachi Yokohama store.
June 2004: Expanded the Imperial Hotel store (from 43.13 sq m to 131.15 sq m).
September 2005: Opened the Yokohama Takashimaya store.
July 2018: Relocated from Hilton Plaza Osaka to a B1 street-level store in Umeda, Osaka.
