● The sponge design significantly reduces foam backflow and can be washed and reused.
Please be careful when replacing the sponge, as over-overflowing can occur if it's not placed in the front half of the unit.
To set it, use long chopsticks from above. After use, remove the pump and push from below to release it.
The sponge is addictive, so set it the day before your fishing trip.

As shown in the photo, set the sponge so that the bottom half of the hole is open.

◉ What is a Venturi Type?

A submersible motor is built into the protein skimmer. The motor rotates an impeller (blade wheel) to create water flow. At this time, it generates bubbles by bringing seawater and air into contact.
Simply put, it's like drinking water through a straw with holes – air and water enter your mouth together.
Since the pump is powered by a mobile battery, you won't need your old air pump, D-cell batteries, or wood stones, leading to significant savings.

◉ Air-Lift Type

This type generates bubbles by sending air from an air pump into a porous material called a wood stone. Due to its simple structure, some people (including myself) build their own. While sufficient for live bait coolers, its filtration capacity is low, and wood stones have a limited lifespan. It also requires an expensive air pump and D-cell batteries.

⚫︎ While bubbles are large in freshwater, seawater has viscosity. When fine air is blown in, impurities tend to float to the surface in the form of bubbles.
Protein skimmers are marine-only devices that utilize this property to remove proteins.
