【High Sound Quality】Cambridge Audio Topaz AM5 High Sound Quality Modified Model

This is a special unit based on the Cambridge Audio Topaz AM5, an entry-class model from the renowned British manufacturer, with sound quality improvements implemented.

To enhance the resolution and energy, which were somewhat lacking in the default state, the following parts have been replaced:

[Modification/Upgrade Details]
Preamplifier Section: Op-amp replacement
Replaced with high-quality MUSES 8920 (2 units).
This eliminates the foggy sound characteristic of the normal unit, achieving transparent highs and a vast soundstage as if a veil has been lifted.

Power Supply Section: High-grade cable & plug change
The original thin and flimsy cable has been replaced with the popular high-end cable, BELDEN 19364.
A pure copper plug has been combined with the cable.
This lowers the center of gravity, significantly improving the solid and powerful low frequencies and the clear extension of the high frequencies.

[Seller's Impression]
Afterward, I upgraded to a higher-end model from the same brand with a list price of 260,000 yen, but honestly, I didn't feel a dramatic difference from this modified AM5. Rather, I was reminded that the direction of this modification had brought the modified AM5 extremely close to the sound pursued by the higher-end model. This unit was already highly regarded for its value for money, but with the modifications, it has been finished into a unit that approaches higher-end models.

[Product Condition]
Operating Status: Used until just before listing, with no crackling or noise, and in very good condition.
Exterior: There are minor scuffs due to use, but no major scratches. Subjectively, I believe it falls into the category of beautiful items.
Accessories: Main unit (power cable attached), instruction manual.
