Showa Star Karuta and Dementia Prevention
○ For dementia prevention and brain training
The act of listening to the reading card and quickly grabbing the picture card involves judging information received through the ears and taking swift action, which helps train brain functions such as concentration, judgment, and the neural transmission function from the brain to the body. Furthermore, by talking with others about the hit songs and stars, or reminiscing about those times, it is expected to train episodic memory, which is said to decline in the early stages of dementia.

○ As a tool for reminiscence therapy
Reminiscence therapy is expected to improve QOL by improving depression and reducing anxiety in the elderly. Showa Star Karuta is recommended as a tool for group reminiscence therapy conducted in nursing homes and communities.
