We sell urethane sponge mats for fishing, used for iki-jime (live-bloodletting) and nerve-pinning after fish are caught. Placing the mat underneath when performing these techniques helps prevent the fish from thrashing, thereby increasing the efficiency of the iki-jime process and preserving the fish's freshness. The mat can also be used as a backing for creating fish prints (gyotaku) of sea bream and other fish. When a fish is placed on it, the mat will slightly compress, allowing the dorsal and tail fins to be suspended, making it easier to take a fish print. It can also be used as a sponge liner for cooler boxes.
