Antique Swedish Mechanical Tongs Sugar Cube Olive Pickle Grabber Made in Sweden

Vintage/antique Swedish mechanical sugar cube tongs (often referred to as sugar nips, or olive/relish grabbers). Has an ornate design on the round holder area and tip of plunger. These specific mechanical plunger-style tongs were popularized in Sweden and manufactured primarily between the 1930s and 1960s, but this one, with the specific patent number (27782) was registered and utilized primarily during the 1910s and 1920s, making this item an antique. The stamp configuration confirms that this piece is made of nysilver (Swedish for nickel silver or new silver), which is a copper-nickel-zinc alloy often heavily silver-plated. The spring-loaded mechanical grabber design was famously invented in 1909 by Johan Petter Johansson, the Swedish inventor who also created the modern adjustable wrench. Good preowned condition. Nice addition to your collection or bartop! Check out my other listings! ✨ Thanks for looking! #5328
