Antique 1930s Made in Japan Green Floral Ceramic Biscuit Jar with Rattan Handle
Vintage
Beautiful vintage/antique Japanese ceramic biscuit jar or covered canister, believed to date to the 1930s/pre-WWII era. Marked “Made in Japan” on the bottom. Features a lovely soft green crackle glaze with an embossed basket-weave texture and colorful raised floral decoration in blue, rose, green and gold tones. The fitted domed lid repeats the basket-weave and floral design, and the original-style woven rattan handle gives it wonderful character. Measures approximately 5” tall x 5¼” wide, not including the handle. Condition: Good vintage condition for its age. The glaze shows overall age-related crazing, and there are some very fine hairline cracks that are difficult to see with the naked eye. Please examine all photos, including the bottom and interior, as they are part of the condition description. A wonderful piece of early Japanese export pottery—beautiful displayed as a decorative jar, biscuit barrel or vintage kitchen collectible. Keywords: Made in Japan, Japanese pottery, 1930s pottery, biscuit jar, cookie jar, covered jar, green pottery, floral pottery, rattan handle, basket weave, cottagecore, grandmillennial.
