This is supplementary information for Red Carpet.
Sorry for sharing my personal thoughts.
I believe it's important to feel the hardness of the chum and the bait.
The hardness of the chum is determined by the hardness of the bait. If you use Ganganse as bait, I recommend Karasu-gai or Murasaki-uni for chum.
Basically, Ishidai prefer soft bait.
I think it's important to make the chum harder and the bait a little softer.
At the start of fishing, finely crush the chum to attract fish, then gradually make the chum coarser, and finally, just lightly crack it.
For bait, divide Ganganse into large, medium, and small sizes. Large is hard, and small is soft. If you cut the spines, it becomes softer than if you don't.
At the start of fishing, cut the spines of the medium size, and then switch to large or small depending on the bait-stealing situation.
If there are many bait stealers, try fishing without cutting the spines, or if you do cut the spines, I recommend adjusting the hardness with bait-wrapping thread.
If the bite is shallow with large bait, switching to small bait will increase the chances of the rod bending.
I also think that changing the hook size at the right time is important to increase the chances of the rod bending.
Surprisingly, the length of the sinker line is also important; it makes a big difference in how the rod bends. Try floating the bait a bit (lol). (From 30 cm to 1.5 meters).
You'll be surprised, so please try it (lol).
Also, for Ishidai fishing, I especially recommend Red Dango. Mix about 3 kg of Red Carpet with about 3 kg of Nuka (rice bran) and a little water to form dango, then cast them into the fishing spot. (Water content is important).
Red Dango are incredibly eye-catching. They have amazing power to attract distant Ishidai. Even a single dango has tremendous power. If there are other anglers at the fishing spot, using White Carpet or Red Carpet will prevent them from catching anything. They won't even get bites. That's how precisely the fish will gather.
Some people might think, (This is a ridiculous chum), but it's serious chum.
Ishidai are not mythical fish, nor is Ishidai fishing a sport for the wealthy; I believe Ishidai fishing is about passion.
By the way, last October, using this chum, I caught 26 Ishidai or Gaki (young Ishidai) measuring 28 cm or more up to 53 cm in one day. (With chum) (In autumn, an average of 10 fish per day).
There's a world you don't know within this chum (lol).
Please try Red Dango once (lol).
