Description
This is a guide to Ishidai fishing rigs.
Recommended for those who want to start Ishidai fishing.
I use a rod and reel specifically for Ishidai, but while it's fine to get Ishidai tackle right away, it's not too late to try it out to see if it suits you.
With a surf rod of #4 to #5, you can land fish over 50cm. A reel for octopus fishing will also work.
For the main line, I recommend PE #20.
This is good because you can retrieve even if a #15 hook straightens.
I don't use leader wire these days.
With PE #20, you won't get cut off.
The retrieval rate is 100%.
For the sinker, I basically use a 30-go drop shot rig. The sinker is made from 10mm rebar, weighing 30-go. It's kind to the environment and your wallet.
Adjust the length of the drop shot line from 30cm to 1.5 meters. You can also float the bait.
There are often questions about how much Red Carpet to use.
I use about 10kg (I'm always on the verge of giving up), but if you have the stamina, 20kg is fine. The more you chum, the more fish you attract (at the weight that completely breaks your spirit (tears)).
I think someone using 10kg of chum will lose out to someone using 20kg (though it also depends on how you chum).
Also, adjust how much you crush the crow oysters and sea urchins.
Start by crushing them well, then gradually crush them less as you chum.
It's just right when it's a bit harder than the bait.
If you have any questions or don't understand anything, please leave a comment (lol).
I'll be happy to answer.
Also, what's particularly recommended for Ishidai fishing is Red Dango. Mix about 3kg of Red Carpet and about 3kg of rice bran with a little water to form dango and cast them to your fishing spot. (Water content is important).
Red Dango are incredibly eye-catching. They have amazing power to attract distant Ishidai. Even a single dango has incredible destructive power. If there's someone fishing next to you, using White Carpet or Red Carpet will prevent them from catching anything. They won't even get bites. That's how precisely the fish will gather.
I believe Ishidai fishing is all about passion.
By the way, last October, using this chum, I caught 26 Ishidai and young Ishidai (from 28cm to 53cm) in one day (with chum). (In autumn, the average is 10 fish per day).
There's a world you don't know within this chum (lol).
Please try Red Dango at least once (lol).
