[Price Reduction] Antique Ogura Hyakunin Isshu Karuta Cards in Wooden Box (Taisho to early Showa period) Full Set

This is an antique Hyakunin Isshu (Karuta) card game set in a wooden box.
Based on its design features, it is believed to have been manufactured during the Taisho to early Showa period (approximately 90-100 years ago).

This item is intended for antique and collectors' enthusiasts.
Unlike modern, new Karuta sets, we recommend this for those who can appreciate and enjoy the patina of age.

Product Features:
- Includes a wooden box (with lid, dividers, and string)
- Complete set of 100 cards (no missing pieces)
- Upper phrase cards feature a color illustration of the poet and their name.
- Lower phrase cards have large, easy-to-read characters.
- The back of the cards has a retro-style purple and white pattern.

Condition:
- As this is an old item, there are scuffs, dirt, and age-related damage to the cards and box.
- There are no breaks or major chips, and it is suitable for playing.
- The manufacturer's name could not be found.

The following is an appraisal by AI for your reference.

① Card Features:
- Lower phrase cards (pickup cards): Large, cursive-style characters, with blue-purple borders and white speckled patterns.
- Upper phrase cards (reading cards): The upper half contains the waka poem, and the lower half features a color illustration of the poet (Ukiyo-e style). The poet's name is also printed.
- Back: Purple with white tie-dye (mottled) patterns.
This design is a classic style popular from the late Meiji to the Taisho period, and many manufacturers, including the long-established Kyoto company Oishi Tengudo, produced Karuta with similar designs.

② Estimated Period:
- The specifications of a wooden box with dividers and a string strongly suggest manufacturing methods from the Taisho to early Showa period (around the 1920s-1940s), preceding the paper box products of the post-war era.
- The illustration printing appears to be multi-color lithography, which was common from the late Meiji to early Showa periods.
Therefore, it is reasonable to estimate that this item is from the late Taisho to early Showa period (approximately 90-100 years ago).
