Description
Antique German Christian hymnal titled Sammlung Christlicher Lieder, published in 1905. This edition was printed in Jurjew (Dorpat) by H. Laakmanns Buch- und Steindruckerei and was intended for use by the German Evangelical colonies along the Volga, making it a desirable piece of Volga German and religious history. Bound in black embossed leather with ornate decorative borders, a cross on the front cover, and a chalice on the back, with original gilt and blind-stamped details visible. The spine shows age-related wear with softened lettering but remains intact. Pages show toning, foxing, and age spotting consistent with early 20th-century books; text remains legible and binding is holding. This is the XXI. Auflage (21st edition) and includes German Fraktur text throughout. A solid example for collectors of antique religious books, German-language hymns, or Volga German heritage items.
