A signed tufa cast sterling silver ring by Navajo silversmith Kevin Yazzie, one of the most respected tufa casters working today.  The wide shield-shaped face carries a double-bar Pueblo (dragonfly) cross over a raised heart. It’s framed by hand-stamped stars and circles against the rough, organic texture only a carved tufa stone mold produces. The high points are polished bright, and the recesses stay dark, so the design reads from across a room.  Tufa casting is done entirely by hand. The artist carves the design into volcanic tufa stone, pours molten silver into it, and then finishes the piece. No two come out the same.
