Lenox Winter Greetings Pierced Votives Set of 3 Ivory Porcelain Original Box

A Lenox Winter Greetings set of three pierced votive holders, all three still sealed in their factory cellophane, in the original red printed box with the Lenox registration card. Each holder is ivory porcelain with a pierced openwork rim, a gold edge, and a painted spray of striped red and white blooms with holly leaves and berries. The box is printed LENOX, WINTER GREETINGS, PIERCED VOTIVES, SET OF 3.  The pierced rim is doing a specific job. Lenox cuts the openwork into the clay while it is still leather hard, before the glaze firing, so the holes are part of the body rather than drilled later. With a candle inside, the light escapes through the cut pattern and throws it onto the table, which turns a plain holder into a projector. The ivory body Lenox uses is a bone china developed in Trenton, New Jersey in the early twentieth century, and its warmth is why candlelight through it reads gold rather than white.  Condition is as new. All three holders remain sealed and unused with no chips or cracks visible through the wrap, and the gold rims are unworn. The box shows light shelf wear and a small price sticker, and the registration insert is present.  No rule measurement was supplied for this set.
