Vintage Aluminum Cookie Cutter Lot Gingerbread Man Star Bell Holly Reindeer

A lot of vintage stamped aluminium cookie cutters: gingerbread man, star, bell, holly leaf, reindeer, scalloped round, plus a heart in tinned steel and others shown in the photographs. The strap across the back is the whole design and it is cleverer than it looks. It is not a handle. It is a stiffener and a release, and it is set at the height it is so your thumb pushes the dough out flat rather than distorting the shape. Cheap modern cutters leave it off and the dough sticks. Every one of these has it. Aluminium cutters like these were produced from the 1930s into the 1960s, sold loose from a bin at the five and dime for pennies, and they did not come with a brand or a box. They came home in a paper bag and lived in a drawer for fifty years. That is why they turn up in mixed lots and almost never as matched sets. A lot like this is somebody's actual Christmas baking drawer, not a curated collection. They still work perfectly. Aluminium does not rust, the edges are still clean, and these will cut better than most of what is sold new. Condition: Cutters are shown grouped and spread out across several photographs so they can be counted. Cutting edges are sound with no splits in the seams. Light oxidation and scattered dark spotting on the aluminium. Some have coloured plastic handle knobs, some do not. Normal kitchen wear throughout.
