Antique Gorham Versailles Sterling Silver Fish Server, "CML" Monogram

Up for sale is a stunning, authentic late-19th to early-20th-century solid sterling silver Fish Server in the highly coveted Versailles pattern by Gorham Silver. Designed in 1888 by Gorham’s legendary chief designer Antoine Heller, Versailles is widely celebrated as one of the most intricate and artistic multi-motif sterling patterns of the Gilded Age.  Design Features & Details: * Front Handle Artwork: Beautifully detailed, high-relief classical scene depicting a goddess/nymph seated on a scrollwork bower accompanied by a cherub/putto offering fruit. * Blade Style: Features the iconic fan-shaped, shell-embossed leaf blade with elegant scalloped details along the edge. * Monogram: The reverse side of the handle features a beautifully executed, original period script monogram reading CML. * Hallmarks: Stamped clearly on the reverse neck with the official antique Gorham hallmarks (Lion, Anchor, Gothic G), STERLING, and COPYRIGHTED. * Weight: 133 grams (approx. 4.27 oz / 3.94 troy oz) of solid sterling silver.  Condition: Excellent antique condition with crisp details in the relief artwork. Shows beautiful, natural age-appropriate patina nestled in the crevices of the scrollwork which beautifully accents the design. No deep gouges, bends, or structural damage. Has been gently wiped off, but left unpolished to preserve historical integrity for the buyer.
