■Real Ship Commentary
The Akishimo was the 18th ship of the Yugumo-class destroyers operated by the Imperial Japanese Navy.
It was an improved version of the Kagerō-class, equipped with 12.7cm twin-mounted cannons (Type D) capable of a 75-degree elevation angle.
This class can be considered the culmination of the Japanese Navy's fleet-type destroyers, with enhanced anti-aircraft capabilities.
Completed in March 1944.
It participated in crucial battles that determined Japan's fate, such as the Battle of the Philippine Sea and the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
It met its end in November 1944, when it was attacked by air raids at the Cavite naval base in Manila Bay, ending its short service life.
