Nichimo 1/400 Battleship Musashi

This is a discontinued model kit from over 40 years ago. At the time, Nichimo released various scales of the Yamato-class battleships.
The 1/400 scale followed the previous 1/300 scale and was released with a turret rotation mechanism. However, there were design flaws, and the mechanism was removed in the revised version. The parts for the gimmick were replaced with a nameplate.
I also assembled it in the past and tried to rotate the turrets, but they did not rotate smoothly.

The item for sale is the revised version, which originally retailed for 3300 yen.
The box shows signs of deterioration and tearing, but the contents are unopened in their inner bags and unassembled. The 4-axis gears and propellers are rust-free and in good condition.
The sculpting is unique to Nichimo and will be nostalgic for Nichimo fans from that era.
Nichimo's research on the Musashi at the time was thorough and is largely consistent with current research. The design by Mr. Tsunehide Mori is convincing. In particular, the illustration by Mr. Yoshiyuki Takani on the box art is surprisingly close to modern research.
