This is a luxurious Maru Obi bolt featuring auspicious patterns such as cranes, pine, bamboo, plum blossoms, and chrysanthemums.

It is a fully patterned (continuous pattern) obi woven with gold and silver threads, with luxurious patterns extending from end to end.

A Maru Obi is a very substantial obi, made by folding a wide fabric (approx. 70cm wide) with a luxurious pattern woven throughout into two, inserting an obi lining, and sewing one side. In the past, it was used for formal attire such as bridal kimonos and tomesode.

This item was kept as part of a collection by a long-established kimono dealer.
