Libbey Mr Pro Glassware Wine Glasses Set of 4 8.25 oz Original Box 3765

A set of four Libbey all purpose wine glasses in the original printed carton, still wrapped in their factory tissue. Each glass has a plain tapered bowl, a short knopped stem and a wide flat foot. The box is printed home bartender sets by Libbey on the lid and MR. PRO GLASSWARE by Libbey, SET OF FOUR 8 1/4 OZ. ALL PURPOSE WINE, 3765 on the end panel. Mr. Pro was Libbey's home bartender line, sold as boxed sets of a single shape rather than as a suite of different glasses, on the logic that a home bar needs four of the right thing rather than one of everything. The all purpose wine glass at eight and a quarter ounces is the compromise shape that sat at the centre of that idea: large enough for red, small enough for white, and plain enough to double as a water glass. The knop at the base of the stem is not decorative but structural, thickening the most fragile junction on any stemmed glass. Condition is excellent and apparently unused. The glasses are clear and bright with no chips, cracks or rim flakes found, and the original tissue remains around the pieces in the box. The carton is worn at the corners with light soiling and edge splitting. Measured against a rule each glass stands about six inches tall.
