Nishijin Master "Yamashiro Kigyoten" Karori Fukuro Obi and Obijime Set - Ichimatsu (Checkerboard) & Nanten (Nandina) - High-Grade Nishijin Weave
A brocade fukuro obi from Nishijin's prestigious Yamashiro Kigyoten, renowned as a master of Noh costume karori.
While there is no official certification tag, the obi bears the seal of Yamashiro Kigyoten, Nishijin Textile Industry Association Certificate No. 216, on the back of the hanging end.
Founded in 1919, this long-established weaving house initially specialized in creating noble Noh costumes.
Consequently, they are particularly acclaimed in Nishijin for their karori technique, resulting in a karori weave that feels soft, with a sense of yarn volume and rich luster.
The obi features a pattern of alternating checkered and hexagonal turtle shell floral motifs, along with nandina berries, woven with threads of matcha green, various shades of brown, and light blue. The lustrous karori weave makes this an exceptionally elegant piece.
◉ Size and Material
Full-length fukuro obi, pure silk

◉ Condition
There are signs of wear from being tied on the leading end and front pattern area.
There are also some areas of creasing on the lining.
No notable stains or spots.
There is some minor fuzzing characteristic of karori, but no conspicuous thread pulls.
(A small thread pull was found on the part hidden inside the otaiko; please check the photo with the circle.)
I have inspected carefully, but I apologize if I have overlooked anything.
Karori is prone to fuzzing due to its use of thicker threads. Please only purchase if you understand the characteristics of karori.
