Meiji 16 Year New One Yen Silver Coin, Right Round Silver Punch, NGC AU Details, Rare Type
299.00 $
Description
This is a rare type featuring an Meiji 16 (1883) One Yen Silver coin with a Meiji 30 (1897) Gin counterstamp.
This item is the highly popular **Migi Marugin (Right Round Silver Punch)**, with excellent punch position and visibility.
Unlike the standard Dragon One Yen coins, this is known as a special punch for the purpose of circulation verification and is an important piece for variation collectors.
The dragon design on the obverse retains its strong three-dimensionality, with clear details in the dragon scales, whiskers, and around the pearl.
The chrysanthemum crest, rising sun, and leaf veins on the reverse are also well-preserved, and the central 一圓 and the silver punch on the right are very easy to see.
NGC grade is AU Details (Harshly Cleaned). While it received a Details grade due to cleaning, there is minimal wear, and the actual condition is good. It is a sufficiently attractive coin for type collecting.
Migi Marugin coins are scarce in the market and are a highly sought-after category within Japanese modern silver coin and variation collecting. Coins in good condition are becoming increasingly difficult to find each year.
