2006 was a year when the Democratic Party regained a majority in both the House and Senate in the November midterm elections, weakening the Bush administration. The situation in Iraq worsened.

Breaking News:
The discontinuation of the U.S. one-cent coin (penny) refers to the end of its 232-year history of production for circulation in November 2025, as manufacturing costs exceeded its face value and electronic payments became widespread. Under President Trump's directive, the Treasury will cease new issuance by early 2026, making the nickel (5 cents) the smallest unit for cash transactions. However, currently circulating pennies will remain legal tender.
Older coins and special mint years will become increasingly difficult to obtain!!
