Punch Card (Perforated Card)
This is a punch card.
It was used in old computers to input and store data and programs.
Information is recorded by punching holes in paper cards.
One card represents one line of data (characters or numbers).
Character codes are represented by combinations of hole positions.
Contents of the photo:
Left: Unused card (no holes)
Middle: Card with some data
Right: Card with many holes (data or program recorded)
How it was used:
Fed through a special device to be read by a computer.
Widely used around the 1950s-1970s.
Programs and calculations were executed by bundling tens to hundreds of these cards.
Although it is a very old technology, it is very important in the history of computers.
I am selling this as part of organizing my collection.
It was passed down from my grandfather.
I may not be able to answer detailed questions,
but thank you for your understanding.
