Etched Glass Rose Bowl Posy Vase Cut Floral Spray Clear Small Globe Form

The decoration is cut, not printed. Hold it to the light at an angle and the flowers sit below the surface of the glass, with the petals ground shallow and the leaves cut deeper so they read darker. A wheel did that, held against a spinning stone by somebody turning the glass by hand, and every line has a slight variation in depth because a human was pressing. Acid etching, which is the cheap alternative, sits flat on the surface and has a uniform frosted grey. There is none of that here. The form is a rose bowl: a squat globe pulling in to a narrow collar. It exists because cut roses with short stems fall over in anything else. The inturned rim holds the heads up and packs them together, which is the whole reason Victorian glasshouses made thousands of them. Small enough for a windowsill or a bathroom shelf. Put three flowers in it and it does exactly what it was designed to do a hundred years ago. Condition: Used. No chips, no cracks and no bruising at the rim. Cut decoration crisp throughout.
