Odate Magewappa, a traditional craft from Akita Prefecture, is a traditional craft made by thinly slicing the straight grain of Akita cedar, boiling it to soften it, forming it into a bent ring, and then securing it with cherry bark.
This is a set of two small, round Odate Magewappa plates from Akita Prefecture.
