This is a tea caddy made with Kaba-zaiku (cherry bark craft), a traditional craft passed down in Kakunodate Town, Akita Prefecture.

This is one of three that I purchased because I liked it when I traveled to Kakunodate.

Natural wild cherry bark is characterized by its excellent breathability, moisture permeability, and durability.
To drink delicious tea, the way tea leaves are stored is very important. The Chutou (Chounagao) Shimofuri-gawa tea caddy can always store the tea leaves you put in it in the optimal condition, and it also allows for good air circulation, making it effective against both moisture and dryness.

Kaba-zaiku uses cherry bark. Cherry bark is an environmentally friendly material that regenerates even after being peeled. Each piece is carefully handcrafted by skilled artisans.
Furthermore, the appearance varies depending on the bark used, and the fact that no two are alike is also a charm.

I believe it has been used sparingly with beautiful bark, but impressions vary from person to person. Please understand that this is a used item and purchase it only after you are satisfied.
