This is a tea caddy made from Kaba-zaiku, a traditional craft of Akita Prefecture.
The bark of the #yamazakura (Japanese cherry birch) tree, which grows in a harsh environment, is carefully peeled from the trunk, dried for 1-2 years, and then applied to the surface to create the product.
It has excellent moisture resistance and antibacterial properties, so you can safely store food items in it. The product also has good airtightness and is a masterpiece.
It would also be good for storing tea leaves or coffee beans.
It has been used, so there are some minor scratches, but they are not very noticeable.
Size: Approximately 8cm in diameter, 12cm in height.
