Vintage Indian Brass Chapati Box Roti Dabba 7" Plated Oval Paan Daan Box Latch

Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic vintage South Asian storage box. This piece features a classic oval dome-lid design meticulously hand-crafted from solid brass and coated in a traditional matte silvery tin lining (Kalai). Originally used in an Indian household as a Roti Dabba (chapati flatbread keeper), it displays a wonderful rustic character and fine parallel hammering marks across its surface.  Front Drop-Hasp Lock: Includes an intact drop-down metal hasp on the front that aligns with a secondary lower plate hole, fully built to accommodate a small vintage padlock for security.  Rear Construction: The back features a heavy-duty wire-loop hinge system that remains strong, tight, and completely functional.Top Handle: A thick, sturdy swing handle is firmly attached to the lid with traditional split-pin anchors.  Great vintage condition with a beautiful aged patina. The tin-plating remains mostly uniform with very light, natural surface scuffs and minuscule pinpoints of the golden brass base peeking through on the interior hinges—all expected and desirable signs of authentic history and utility. The container opens smoothly, shuts flush, and has a solid, stable flat bottom with no deep dents or holes.
